Cynthia Tart, MSW, LCSWA
For over 25 years, Cindy has volunteered with the non-profit bereavement organization, The Compassionate Friends, facilitating workshops for bereaved sibling groups at local, regional, and national levels. Cindy has been invited to speak about sibling grief to audiences that include bereaved siblings, bereaved parents, and professional social work organizations. Currently, Cindy serves as the chapter leader for The Compassionate Friends chapter in Fayetteville, NC, and also serves as the Sibling Representative on the organization's Board of Directors. In her role on the board, Cindy has assisted in managing a $1.4 million budget, planned a national conference attended by approximately 1,500 participants, and led numerous board committees.
Cindy received her Master’s degree in Social Work in May of 2017 and is currently in the process of submitting paperwork to obtain her LCSW-A licensure. She spent one year in the Integrated Behavioral Health Scholarship program and completed trainings in Safe Zone, Mental Health First Aid, Military Social Work, and Grant Writing. Additionally, Cindy served as the Vice-President of the Phi-Alpha Honor Society. Her internships included placements with Healthkeeperz Hospice, Southeastern Family Violence Center, Hoke County Domestic Violence Center, and United Way of Robeson County. Throughout these internships, Cindy collaborated with interdisciplinary treatment teams within her agency, other community organizations, and community/government social service agencies, working with all stakeholders to benefit her clients. Cindy's internship experiences involved conducting complex psychosocial assessments and designing therapeutic treatment plans, as well as performing mental health screenings to assess potential harm to self or others.
